PC Speaker
A PC speaker is a small internal speaker built into most personal computers. It was first introduced in the early IBM PCs and is mainly used to provide basic audio feedback. Unlike modern sound systems, it produces simple beeps and tones rather than full-range audio. These sounds often indicate hardware issues, boot status, or system alerts. The PC speaker connects directly to the motherboard and doesn’t require a sound card. Although it has largely been replaced by advanced audio systems, it’s still used in BIOS diagnostics. Many motherboards include it for error reporting during startup. It’s a useful tool for troubleshooting hardware problems. Despite its simplicity, the PC speaker has played a key role in computer history.
